Dental Prevention

A regular checkup every six months—at least twice a year—is recommended. If dental problems already exist, they can be detected early and treated in a timely manner during a preventive dental exam. Consistent professional oral hygiene significantly reduces the buildup of tartar. At the same time, the risk of tooth decay and bacterial buildup in the mouth decreases.

Brushing Your Teeth

Both children and adults should brush their teeth thoroughly twice a day.
It is recommended to wait at least 30 minutes before brushing your teeth, either before or after a meal.

This helps protect tooth enamel, which is temporarily more sensitive immediately after eating—especially after consuming acidic foods and beverages.

Fear of the Dentist

Many people feel uneasy when they have a dentist’s appointment coming up. Some people even suffer from severe anxiety or fear and therefore avoid going to the dentist’s office. Patients with dental anxiety often don’t seek help until they’re already experiencing pain.

At our practice, we treat you with special care and take plenty of time to make your visit as pleasant as possible.

Personalized Advice with Heart and Mind

Drugstores and supermarkets carry a wide variety of dental care products—from toothpaste and toothbrushes to dental floss. With so many options to choose from, it’s often hard to decide.
Instead of just picking something off the shelf at random or relying solely on advice from a retailer, it’s a good idea to discuss these important questions with your trusted dental practice. This allows you to tailor your selection to your personal needs.

Toothbrush
Which toothbrush is the right one—hard or soft, with a short head, a curved head, or a classic brush head? The selection at drugstores today is very large and often confusing. To help you stay on top of things and use the toothbrush that’s right for your dental health, we’ll provide you with personalized, detailed advice. This way, we can work together to find the best solution for your needs.
  • As soon as the first baby tooth comes in, it’s time to start dental care—even for the youngest children. We recommend a children’s toothpaste containing 1,000 ppm of fluoride, used twice a day in an amount about the size of a grain of rice.
Starting on their second birthday, the amount can be increased to the size of a pea. Alternatively, during the first two years of life, you can also use toothpaste containing 500 ppm of fluoride—also twice a day, in a pea-sized amount.

  • From ages 2 to 6, the following applies:
Brush your teeth twice a day with a pea-sized amount of toothpaste containing 1,000 ppm of fluoride.

  • From age six through adulthood, children should continue to brush their teeth twice a day—toothpastes containing at least 1,000 to 1,500 ppm of fluoride are recommended.
  • We provide comprehensive advice on choosing the right dental floss and show you different options for various situations in your mouth.

  • These include, among others:
    – braces
    – prosthetic restorations such as crowns and bridges
    – implants

  • At our dental office, we’ll work with you to explain and practice the proper use of dental floss and interdental brushes—for effective cleaning of the spaces between your teeth and long-term oral health.
